Daylesford - is so much more than a shop, this is an experience and not to be missed off your list of things to do and see. The shop that inspired Jeremy Clarkson to open Diddly Squat Farm Shop - where ploughman's lunch ingredients cost him over £80! Daylesford really is the Fortnum & Mason of the Cotswolds and you never know who you might see there. There is a very well considered restaurant on site and a spa if you fancy an indulgence. Around a 15 minute scenic drive away.
Sezincote (India in the Cotswolds) At the heart of a traditional, family-run estate covering 3,500 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside stands a 200-year-old Mogul Indian palace, set in romantic landscape of temples, grottoes, waterfalls and canals reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. Under 20 minute scenic drive away.
Crocodiles of the World Crocodiles, Alligators and Caimans; an attraction like no other, get up close and personal with these amazing creatures - dozens of species, ranging from small to way too big! But as well as the scary, there are the cute too, well worth a visit. About 20 minutes away - 15 if you make it snappy (yeah I know - Dad joke!)
Birdland Park and Gardens was first established in 1957 in the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water and was one of the first Bird encounters to open in the UK. The 9 acre site is positioned on a former Bryant and May Poplar Tree plantation famous for its matchstick crop! There are still over 150 trees which create a high canopy for the River Windrush. The beautiful setting is inhabited by over 500 birds. Flamingos, pelicans, penguins, cranes, storks, cassowary, and waterfowl can be seen on various aspects of the natural water habitat. There are also over 50 aviaries featuring parrots, falcons, pheasants, hornbills, touracos, pigeons, ibis and many more. The Desert House is home to the more delicate species, whilst the indoor Discovery Zone features egg laying creatures including fish, amphibians and reptiles.
The Rollright Stones If history interests you, then how about 2,000+ years of Neolithic and Bronze age development? It's said that the stones are a monarch and his courtiers petrified by a witch...They consist of 3 groups: The King's Men stone circle, the Whispering Knights burial chamber and the single King stone. Try counting them, then do it again - it's always different! It's like they move around...! The Rollright stones also offer a 'dark sky' environment for star gazing. Less than 10 minutes away by car
